Exceleration Music to Acquire U.K. Indie Company Cooking Vinyl

Exceleration Music, a prominent global independent music company, has announced its acquisition of Cooking Vinyl, a well-known UK-headquartered independent music company. The deal, announced on June 9, 2025, sees two influential forces in the independent music sector joining together.

Cooking Vinyl will continue to operate independently under its current leadership, including Managing Director Rob Collins and Chairman Martin Goldschmidt, who founded the company. The acquisition is expected to integrate Cooking Vinyl into Exceleration's global infrastructure, including its Redeye distribution platform, significantly expanding its growth opportunities worldwide. Exceleration also aims to leverage Cooking Vinyl's renowned artist marketing expertise.

This acquisition follows Exceleration Music's strategy of investing in and partnering with market-leading independent labels and catalogs. Less than two years ago, Exceleration acquired independent digital and physical distribution/services company Redeye. Exceleration's portfolio also includes investments and partnerships with labels such as Kill Rock Stars, +1 Records, Alligator, Bloodshot, Candid, and Mack Avenue Music Group.

Cooking Vinyl has a nearly four-decade history, known for its "artist services" deals where artists retain ownership of their copyright, a model it pioneered with Billy Bragg in 1993. The company has worked with a diverse roster of artists including The Cranberries, The Prodigy, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Cooking Vinyl Publishing UK, Cooking Vinyl Publishing Australia, and Motus Music are not part of this acquisition.
